THE 1895 PICTORIALS "MULITAS"

The 1895 Mail Transportation issue is better known by stamp collectors as the "Mulitas" because many of the stamps picture mules being used by riders on their backs or by mules pulling a coach in their quests to deliver the mail.

The 1 centavo stamp depicts a mailman walking across the Mexican countryside delivering mail.

The 2 centavos depicts the same scene as the 1 centavo stamp except is printed in red ink.

The 3 centavos depicts the same scene as the 1 centavo stamp except is printed in brown ink.

The 4 centavos stamp depicts a mailman riding muleback in his effort to deliver the mail.

A stamp commemorating the statue of Cuauhtémoc, a famous statue in Mexico City with apparently no connection to mail delivery but still a nice statue.

Back to the "mail delivery" theme the picture is of a coach, carrying mail, and being pulled by a team of mules.

The 12 centavos stamp is of the same design as the 4 centavos, except it is printed in olive brown ink.

The 15 centavos stamp is of the same design as the 10 centavos, but printed in a brilliant blue ink.

Carrying on with the coach and mule team design, the 20 centavos stamp is printed in burnt rose colored ink.

Also in the design of the mules and coach the 50 centavos stamp is printed in purple ink.

On the un peso stamp there is a mail train printed in brown ink.
